The Flaming Lips Earn Positive Reviews from The Independent and CoS
The first reviews of The Flaming Lips‘ Oczy Mlody are coming in, and they’re overwhelmingly positive. The Independent gives the new LP four out of five stars, writing that the album is “a lovely, silly, serious work that draws one in despite the bursts of utopian cosmo-babble… But buried amongst the cosmic fairytale whimsy and unbridled psychedelia lurk sombre moments whose impact is thus placed in sharper relief.” The review compares the work to that made by such disparate pioneers as The Residents and Neil Young, and can be be read here.
Consequence of Sound also recommends Oczy Mlody, which it calls “a beautiful and somber reflection on our times” and lauding it for “often taming chaos in beautiful, fragile moments.” Read that review here.
