Technique and Hot Press Hail Oczy Mlody as a Return To Form for The Flaming Lips
Technique has reviewed the new Flaming Lips album, contending that the band sounds “reinvigorated” and contending, “Oczy Mlody is no exception to the group’s long tradition of excellence. The Flaming Lips have reinvented themselves again, and the album with which they have done it may well be the best of their career.” The review takes readers through the whole of the record, positing that “[Lips’ singer Wayne] Coyne seems to be trying to find a way to accommodate youthful naïveté and enthusiasm with an adult reality.” On Oczy Mlody, the site writes, “the Flaming Lips are unpretentious, unassuming and understated, yet each and every track strikes the listener with intense depth and complexity.” Read the full review here.
Hot Press also has a hot take on the LP. “Barking, baroque, yet sincere all the way,” the site says, “Oczy Mlody is the return to form Lips fans have thirsted for. In a world where so much has become unhinged lately, it’s a relief to find these pranksters back to their tongue-waggling, zorb-bothering best.” Read the review here
