The Flaming Lips’ Wayne Coyne Talks To Iowa Public Radio
Wayne Coyne, who has been fronting The Flaming Lips for more than three decades, doesn’t appear to know how to rest. Only a month after the release of the band’s newest album, Oczy Mlody, the multi-disciplinary artist is being featured with a solo exhibit of his visual art – including a giant installation called King’s Mouth – at the Waterloo Center For the Arts in Waterloo, Iowa.
To promote the exhibition’s opening, Coyne conversed with Iowa Public Radio‘s Mark Simmet about his artwork as well as the new Lips LP, the history of the band, the definition of psychedelic rock, and what it’s like having a years-long working relationship with indie rock legend Dave Fridmann.
