The Barr Brothers Discuss Parenthood and Music with Georgia Straight
In a lengthy recent interview with The Georgia Straight, Andrew Barr of The Barr Brothers explained how fatherhood has impacted how each of them has been able to make music. “Things got really hectic for a while,” he told the paper, because both he and his brother Brad had children. “I wouldn’t say we were less motivated than in the past, but we certainly had some more important things going on that we were taking care of. Little things, like being able to sit up and play the piano at 2 in the morning in the house, become something you can’t do.” To make new LP Queens of the Breakers, the band holed up in a cabin and sequestered themselves from the world. “[We] got permission from the wives and went to this cabin that was a half-an-hour snowmobile ride from any store… There’s something about that kind of freedom.” Read the full interview here.
