The Southern Sounding Shares Dream System 8’s “Color The Stars”

The Southern Sounding has a stream of “Color The Stars,” from Dream System 8‘s debut LP We Sleep Again. In the words of the site, bandmates Erica Elektra and John Kurtz “develop a euphoric electronic awareness [and] a sense of emotional connectedness [that lies] deep beneath the fluorescent facade of the song.” The site goes on, “Elektra’s fluid vocals glide across the swooning synth lines and ecstatic beats, creating a vibrant and interactive atmosphere… There is an intimate resonance that manages to work its way free from the surrounding glitz and sparkle.” Read the full feature, and hear the track, right here.

We Sleep Again is fueled by warm analog synthesizers – truly vintage ones, not plugins or modern recreations – and may remind listeners of the Stranger Things score (a project on which Kurtz served as Music Editor) with the addition of smart, catchy female lead vocals.
