FemMusic Interviews Alex Lilly

FemMusic recently talked to Alex Lilly, whose LP 2% Milk is still going strong at the NACC Radio 200. The resultant wide-ranging interview touches on the impact of the opera Carmen on her musical development; her friendship with the bird and the bee’s Inara George, whose Release Me Records put out the album; and the “uphill battle” that women too often have to face as musicians. “You start at a deficit,” she explains, “and have to work your way up to the status of an intelligent, competent human being” in the eyes of many bros in the industry.
