Fruit Bats’ Gold Past Life, This Week’s Top Debut At NACC, Gets Love From Variety

We’re thrilled to see all of the support at radio on the new album from Fruit Bats. Gold Past Life was the Top Debut on the NACC Radio 200 this week, coming in at #33. Thanks to all of the stations that are playing this fantastic LP.

Variety has a thoughtful review of Gold Past Life that seems like it was written by a longtime fan of the band. Chris Willman, the article’s author, goes into great detail concerning every track on the album, paying particular attention to the lyrics and their themes of nostalgia and sentimentality. Willman states, “There won’t be many albums in 2019 with as many quotable, cut-to-the-marrow lines as this one has, whether [Fruit Bats leader Eric D. Johnson is] finding hard-fought maturity in a handful of optimistic love songs or abandoning all hope of accumulating wisdom in some heartbreakers that determine the past is destiny.” The article goes so far as to say that “this is one of the best-written albums of the year.”
