Premier Guitar has a thoroughly interesting interview with Micah Nelson, the son of Willie Nelson and the brains behind the Particle Kid musical endeavor. The site delves into the specifics of Nelson’s guitar playing and asks questions about how his legendary father influenced his sound. According to the interview, the music of Django Reinhardt was a touchstone in Micah’s musical relationship with his father. “One thing that we both really connected on is Django Reinhardt,” Micah says of Willie Nelson. “My dad worshipped Django Reinhardt, and his whole guitar sound was modeled after … those Gypsy jazz scales, those kind of weird jazzy Django chords … my dad taught me how to play those songs, and that kind of feel has definitely influenced everything I’ve done.” That’s just the tip of the iceberg, however. Fans of the Nelsons – and of Particle Kid’s new Window Rock LP – ought to enjoy the whole interview, which is here.
