Devendra Tells office About Identity

In a recent interview with office, Devendra Banhart opined on the transitory essence of experience. “There’s no solid self,” he told the site. “Everything I was so sure of 20 years ago, all those opinions changed. And everything I was sure of 10 years ago, those things have changed. Everything I was so sure of yesterday slowly starts to change.” Thus, writes office, “[new LP Ma] serves more as an intimate caricature of who Banhart is right now, an attempt to document the moment, rather than a demonstration of what he’s capable of.” Later, Banhart shares his love of Joni Mitchell and explains why wearing turtlenecks means he can call himself an “auntie” in interviews. It’s a great read! Check it out here.
