Lido Pimienta and Leif Vollebekk Are Longlisted For The Polaris Prize

The 2020 Polaris Prize Long List is out, and both Lido Pimienta and Leif Vollebekk are on it! Each year, the Polaris Prize honors, celebrates and rewards creativity and diversity in Canadian recorded music. It’s aim is to identify “the Canadian album of the year based on artistic merit without regard to genre, sales history or label affiliation.” It’s no surprise that Pimienta and Vollebekk are semifinalists this year – in 2017, after all, Vollebekk’s Twin Solitude made it to the Polaris Short List and Pimienta’s La Papessa won outright that year. Nonetheless, the nominations provide more validation for two artists whose extraordinary work has colored our world this year.

Check out the list here, and get Lido Pimienta’s Miss Colombia and Leif Vollebekk’s New Ways on your airwaves if you aren’t already playing them.
