Samantha Sidley Chats With Forbes

Samantha Sidley spoke to Forbes recently about her musical philosophy. “I wasn’t intentionally trying to be revolutionary,” she tells the magazine about “I Like Girls,” the queer anthem that leads off her jazzy LP Interior Person. “I was just trying to be honest. What’s the point of making art if you can’t be honest? I’m not going to stand up on stage in front of people and lie.” Forbes spoke to Sidley about the making of the album, which includes songs written for Sidley by her wife Barbara Gruska and her friends Alex Lilly and Inara George. “They know me so personally, so every single song is deeply personal.” Learn more here, and go to our download page to get Interior Person as well as a pair of covers – of songs originally by Judy Garland and Ry Cooder – performed by Sidley.
