The Flaming Lips Play A Bubble Show and Plan More

A couple weeks ago, Pitchfork reported that The Flaming Lips were planning a “bubble concert,” during which audience members would be encased in the same hamster ball-style plastic bubbles that frontman Wayne Coyne has long used for crowd-surfing fun. Then, last week the band showed up on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert for a test-run, playing two songs from current release American Head to a bubbled audience in Oklahoma. Not only does Vice have video, but it’s also got an interview with a member of the audience. The band is planning a full concert sometime after the election, with as many as 4,000 bubbles. Go here to see the clip and read about what it was like to be there in OKC last week.
