David Newton and Thee Mighty Angels‘ debut LP A Gateway To A Lifetime Of Disappointment is at radio now. But while this is Newton’s first solo LP, it’s far from the first record he’s made. Newton has played in multiple bands, including The Blue Aeroplanes, and he’s also an accomplished producer who has helmed productions by bands like The Henry Clay People and Happy Hollows. Yet Newton is perhaps best known for his time in The Mighty Lemon Drops. It’s this era that David Eastaugh of the C86 Podcast explores with Newton in a recent podcast, which tells the history of the band and will be of interest to any indie pop historians.
