Bomb Magazine Chats With Tav Falco

Tav Falco is currently at radio with Desire on Ice, a set out via ORG Music that celebrates his songwriting and features an incredible array of guest musicians including Kid Congo Powers, Jon Spencer, Rev Horton Heat, and many more. Falco has been on the scene since the 1970s, cultivating a loyal cult following. According to a 2008 profile in Bomb Magazine, “Falco has merged the grainy portraiture of a gonzo documentarian with the spellbinding mythos of a backwoods raconteur.” The site has a long interview with Falco; find it here.
Bomb also explains the origins of his Panther Burns band name. “A reference to an ol’ Mississippi tall tale, Panther Burn was a large 19th century plantation outside of Greenville where legend had it a malcontented panther stalked and terrorized the local population until it was corralled into a cane break and set aflame. According to witnesses, the screams coming from the panther were an unholy amalgam of animal lust and divine transubstantiation, which continue to curse the plantation.” Cool!
