The Stranger Interviews Dude York, Going for Top Debut at NACC
Seattle alt-weekly The Stranger has a feature on Dude York‘s new LP, Sincerely, that tells the detailed story behind the album’s completion. “The record’s bold, polished sound didn’t come easy,” writes the blog, detailing the recording process with band members Andrew Hall, Peter Richards, and Claire England. “For some bands, I think the DIY thing works really well,” bassist and vocalist England told the Stranger, “but we learned that we needed to do it more the traditional way: in a studio and maybe with some help.” This help came by way of Cody Votolato, who the band met while he was playing bass for AmApAc associates My Goodness. Votolato mentored the band – Hall calls him “a killer rock-music coach” – and connected them with producer John Goodmanson (Bikini Kill, Blonde Redhead, Sleater-Kinney, All The Real Girls). The rest, as they say, is history…
Here below is “Love Is” from Dude York’s 2017 album Sincerely.
