AllMusic Praises San Fermin’s Belong
AllMusic has given a four-star review to San Fermin‘s Belong, writing that the album finds the band’s Ellis Ludwig-Leone “delivering a more streamlined set of chamber pop confections that reflects the group’s evolution from his post-Yale composition project to a fully operational and battle-tested band.” The site compares the music on Belong to that made by the likes of Susanne Sundfør and Lykke Li, Sohn and Lapsley, and even Frank Ocean. “Ludwig-Leone’s arrangements continue to impress with their ability to frame simple melodies with controlled chaos,” writes AllMusic, and “Belong manages to strike a nice balance between San Fermin’s musical theater/experimental rock predilections and their emerging pop ambitions.
