John K. Samson: CMJ’s Biggest Mover; “Longitudinal Centre” Music Video Premiere on IFC

Thanks to station’s like for CHRW, CKDU, KFAI, KZSC, WBWC, WXCU, and WSYC for debuting the solo effort from The Weakerthan‘s frontman John K. Samson. His album Provincial jumped 151 spots from #171 to #26 making him the 4th AmApAc artist in the CMJ top 30 (see: The Black Keys, Cloud Control, Caveman)! The track “Longitudinal Centre” seems to be a favorite among DJs and rightfully so, the songwriting & guitar tones on the track remind us of what we’ve always loved from artists like Wilco or Elliot Smith. A music video for the single premiered on IFC last week, featuring the roads and landscapes that inspired the album – watch it here.
