The highly anticipated album by Cut Chemist is slated for release this year. The former Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli member and DJ Shadow collaborator follows his tradition of mixing genres to create a unique listening experience. The first single from the world renowned DJ/producer will come in two versions: the guitar heavy, Public Enemy-like “Outro (revisited)” & the pulsing, spacey “Outro (dub)”. Look out for the servicing this week.

The record is both ethereal and grounded, evoking a deep sense of introspection and blending narrative lyrics with one-take lead vocal performances, cinematic arrangements, rich soundscapes, and lush orchestration. Vollebekk – who self-produced and plays piano, guitar, bass, B3 organ, harmonica, accordion and Moog synthesizer – compiled an impressive supporting cast including drummer Jim Keltner, steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Rod Stewart), and bassist Shahzad Ismaily. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Arctic Monkeys, Tracy Chapman) and mastered by Greg Calbi.
