New Album from Ramona Falls

Posted on Apr 26, 2012

Ramona Falls are set to release prophet, their sophomore album, on May 1st through Barsuk. Brent Knopf, the creative force behind Ramona Falls, is an original member of Portland’s Menomena. After four full-length albums and three EPs, Knopf decided to part ways with the band to focus on his solo project. “I’m less worried now about being made fun of, than I was before. I can now say things I believe in,” says Knopf. You’ve already heard tracks“Sqworm,” “Spore,” and “Brevony” which have been featured on Pitchfork andStereogum. The tracks are the perfect indication of the album’s range, from the stomping angst of “Brevony” to the orchestral airiness of “Spore.” The album carries the experimental dream pop Menomena is popular for except it manages to augment the bright and dark tones of the band’s past work: be it sonically, lyrically or thematically.
