Lolo Meares Tells Bad Copy About “Another Year”

Lolo Meares recently spoke to Bad Copy about “Another Year,” which is featured on the new third volume of The Road Angel Project series curated by Inara George for the benefit of Sweet Relief’s COVID-19 Fund. “I began writing this song late one night around the new year,” Meares told the site, “trying to articulate the feeling of a not-so-dramatic moment of disconnection between me and my husband. As it took shape, it became less about that specific moment and more broadly about a relationship with time, the inevitable measuring stick, and the innocently human ways we miss connecting with one another, including ourselves. The line, ‘in a way we’re giving up’ is a bittersweet encouragement — let’s make this time-thing our friend rather than our enemy.”
