Mount Eerie’s “Clear Moon” Going for Adds This Week

After the release of 2009’s Wind’s PoemPhil Elverum (aka Mount Eerie) returns with Clear Moon, the first of two albums slated to be released this year.Elverum, the man behind The Microphones and Mount Eerie, recently took an extended break from touring in order to record the albums. The songs that appear on Clear Moon reflect the quiet life in and around the small northwestern town of Anacortes, Washington. In a recent Pitchfork interview Elverum states that “the songs and the ideas came from a more slowed-down attention to this particular place, this town, walking from my house to the studio and back every day.” Read the interview hereElverum established a studio called “The Unknown”, in a de-sanctified church in Anacortes where he recorded the album. The tracks embrace the region’s environment by carrying a misty haze throughout the 11-track piece. The church’s tones permeate through the album as synthesizers weave throughElevrum‘s quiet guitars, sampled drums, and thunderous guitar.

Clear Moon was recently called Best New Music by Pitchfork who said the album “makes a vast, cool sanctuary of itself and quietly beckons you in…it feels like a collection of secrets Elverum has cupped in his palm to pour directly, and privately, into your ear alone.'” You can read the full Pitchfork review hereClear Moon is going for ADDS today and tomorrow.
