New Music From Andrew Stogel (War Strings)

Andrew Stogel attempts to reveal his most sincere self on upcoming album American Miserable, out October 29, 2025, which is a brutal, playful, and immersive installment. Stogel has fronted several bands (Dreamers Dose, LOVEYOU) and released 4 albums under the moniker War Strings. Diabolica, his debut under is own name, was released on June 27, 2025. In all, this will be Stogel’s eighth album as well as his most searing, listenable and personal work. He aims to follow in the footsteps of bands like Suicide and artists like Bill Callahan and Lou Reed. “This one’s my best yet,” he says about American Miserable, which is a thorough and moving self-portrait that continues to use satirical extremes and “heart on sleeve” lyrics to express painstaking sentiments.
Opener “Miserable” delivers on his dreary premise. Stogel is miserable. Images of emotional and societal collapse are crooned over a fury of a track. “Lifelike” encapsulates a main theme of the record; Stogel walks through the world, aware of an unbearable distance. “‘Lifelike’ is about feeling removed,” he explains. “I’d see a beautiful moment unfold and become unreasonably lost and numb.” Both tracks are at radio in advance of the full album’s release.
