Patrick Watson recently visited New Sounds, from New York Public Radio, with frequent collaborator La Force. The two performed three songs that can be found on Watson’s new LP Uh Oh, which is at radio now from Secret City Records. Check those out on the New Sounds YouTube feed, here.

The record is both ethereal and grounded, evoking a deep sense of introspection and blending narrative lyrics with one-take lead vocal performances, cinematic arrangements, rich soundscapes, and lush orchestration. Vollebekk – who self-produced and plays piano, guitar, bass, B3 organ, harmonica, accordion and Moog synthesizer – compiled an impressive supporting cast including drummer Jim Keltner, steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Rod Stewart), and bassist Shahzad Ismaily. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Arctic Monkeys, Tracy Chapman) and mastered by Greg Calbi.
