Devendra Banhart‘s eighth album Mala has been making waves lately at CMJ landing at #11 on the top 200 this week. Pitchfork spent some time with Devendra regarding the direction of his new album, relationships, and even some of his favorite poetry. He also shared some of his favorite songs, which ranged from artists as broad as Yo La Tango to Guns N’ Roses, and reveals that it was the biography of avant-garde artist Arthur Russell that brought him back to New York City.
