Yesterday, we digitally serviced the newest single from Telepathe, “Slow Learner” off of Federal Prism. The music video for this synth pop track was directed by Dawn Garcia and features an intense office crush. Shot with a surreal slant, it has our protagonist singing Telepathe‘s infectious chorus longingly into a mirror while he day dreams about his co-worker. Check the video out here.

The record is both ethereal and grounded, evoking a deep sense of introspection and blending narrative lyrics with one-take lead vocal performances, cinematic arrangements, rich soundscapes, and lush orchestration. Vollebekk – who self-produced and plays piano, guitar, bass, B3 organ, harmonica, accordion and Moog synthesizer – compiled an impressive supporting cast including drummer Jim Keltner, steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Rod Stewart), and bassist Shahzad Ismaily. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Arctic Monkeys, Tracy Chapman) and mastered by Greg Calbi.
