Dr. Dog‘s latest album B-Room has broken into the top 5 of the CMJ Top 200. The band has been getting a ton of press and doing a bunch of special performances for this new album. Most recently, Pandora Radio released a live performance that Dr. Dog did for them at 25th Street Recording in Oakland, CA. Check it out here.

The record is both ethereal and grounded, evoking a deep sense of introspection and blending narrative lyrics with one-take lead vocal performances, cinematic arrangements, rich soundscapes, and lush orchestration. Vollebekk – who self-produced and plays piano, guitar, bass, B3 organ, harmonica, accordion and Moog synthesizer – compiled an impressive supporting cast including drummer Jim Keltner, steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Rod Stewart), and bassist Shahzad Ismaily. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Arctic Monkeys, Tracy Chapman) and mastered by Greg Calbi.
