After more than a decade long career highlighted by nominations, awards, platinum selling albums, tens of millions of streams, and sold-out concerts, in the fall of 2023 Bobby Bazini released Pearl, a self-released album that received widespread praise at home in Canada and far beyond. Initially, fifteen songs were composed and recorded with producer Connor Seidel (1969 Collective, Les Soeurs Boulay, Charlotte Cardin) at the Treehouse Studios, between February and May 2022. After numerous walks in the forest, eleven were selected for the album while the other four were chosen to be on the EP Stone of June, the epilogue to Pearl — a story told in two parts.

Musically, these four tracks are more stripped-down than their sisters from Pearl. Recorded in a few takes at the beginning of spring, they benefit from a lightness, perhaps thanks to the fresh air, bird songs, and wind rustling through the trees. The four musicians – Bazini on vocals and classical guitar, Seidel on bass, Robbie Kuster (Daniel Bélanger, Patrick Watson) on drums, and Conner Molander (Half Moon Run) on piano – made these recordings while fully trusting this inspiring environment and the power of music. “These pieces somehow matured in us for a shorter time, simply dressed in what surrounded them at the moment of playing. We even opened all the studio windows during recording!” Bazini recalls.

“We emerge from [Pearl,] this album all about new beginnings, love, and human nature, desiring to see a brighter side of life” – La Presse

“Cinematic, soulful, and smoldering” – Atwood Magazine

“Those warm summer nights have a sultry new soundtrack.” – MOJO Magazine
