Based in Austin and led by Kevin Dehan, Cactus Lee showcases a tireless devotion to songcraft and features melancholy, ornate arrangements akin to the likes of Gene Clark or Townes Van Zandt. Caravan is the project’s sixth LP in four years and the most sonically expansive version of Cactus Lee yet, showcasing the payoff of persistent and passionate performances alongside time spent lovingly in the studio with producer Kyle Crusham (Paul Simon, Edie Brickell). Inspired by the generation-spanning sounds of quintessential Texas music, the record marks a clear evolution from Dehan’s homespun beginnings.

According to Chad Depasquale of Aquarium Drunkard, which has co-released Caravan alongside ORG Music, the record “showcases an incredible and exponentially focused growth in songwriting, an ascent as fast as you can hear his band now play. Expanding out from the lo-fi homespun beginnings of his now classic early efforts, Dehan has embraced a bigger and more studio-based sound that, in part, now reflects the live show that has become so integral to the world of Cactus Lee… Cactus Lee boogies.”

“A studio fresh album that’s got one foot in the Americana crate and another in the country coffers… The record sidles into a ‘70s tangle of roots, letting the Rhodes run rampant, doused in the glow of an afternoon sun.” – Raven Sings The Blues

“Dehan is a cowboy’s cowboy, a radical rodeo poet and a country magician whose songwriting is dedicated, divine, curious, heartbreakingly accurate and at times simple and splendidly perfect.” – The Self Portrait Gospel
