Detroit’s legendary Westbound Records has teamed with vinyl specialist label Org Music to re-launch with a series of remastered, celebrated funk and soul albums. The series kicked off with Ohio Players’ landmark 1973 release, Pleasure, followed by The Counts’ What’s Up Front That-Counts, Assemblage’s Album, Dennis Coffey Finger Pickin’ Good, and two by Eramus Hall—the  new rarities LP Lost and Found, and Your Love Is My Desire, one of the most sought-after records of the modern soul era.  Next in the series is Denise LaSalle’s Trapped By A Thing Called Love (1972), her seminal debut LP for Westbound Records that introduced a storming force in R&B and funk and Chicago blues.

Born in the Mississippi Delta and raised in Chicago, LaSalle wrote many of her own hits, including the number one single, “Trapped By A Thing Called Love.” As Ms. LaSalle told Blues Blast Magazine in 2017, Even before I started doing it on record, I was naughty but nice in person. It comes naturally. Because that’s the way life is.”

“Kicking off her Westbound stay with a gem, Denise LaSalle gave the world a new take on Southern soul with this late-nite entrée of Stax-y grooves and tales of love on the rocks… classic.” – AllMusic
