The Silver Snails is an independent pop rock music project based in the medieval wine country of Romagna, Italy, with strong ties to the West Coast of the United States. Anchored by the husband-and-wife duo of Lucas Ward and Elisa Fantini, their mission is to open human hearts through song. Describing themselves as a “glam rock space pop family band,” The Silver Snails draw from a diverse palette of musical influences including classic rock, pop, folk, electronica, Irish music, jazz, Nigerian music, Qawwali, Asian folk music, and more. Fresh and melodic, their songs are stylistically adventurous yet firmly rooted in post-Beatles pop rock. The couple’s three children – Jasmine, Celeste, and Elias – participate actively in live performances, videos, and in the recording studio, having grown up “in the band.” The project is supported by a large community of family, friends, fans, artists, musicians and supporters.. Originally released in 2012, the band’s debut LP 7 Melodies was revealed by inspiration and incorporates English, Italian, and French, with touches of Mandarin and Sanskrit.

More than a decade in the making, sophomore album Speed of Light seeks to position the band as the world’s finest pop rock for a global audience. Speed of Light is a string of pearls lovingly crafted to uplift, inspire, and open the hearts of listeners. More stylistically focused than The 7 Melodies, Speed of Light was recorded painstakingly in Italy and Portland, Oregon and co-produced by Dylan Magierek (Badman Records). Mixing and Mastering credits include GRAMMY-Award winners Peter Katis (Tarquin Studios) and Greg Calbi (Sterling Sound), as well as Portland’s Adam Selzer. According to an interview with Lucas Ward in Retro Futurista, the new collection features “even better production and writing” that’s “more focused in the pop/rock genre, brighter in tone, more layered, and more accessible” than their debut offering. In addition to nine originals, the set includes the band’s cover of the Buggles’ classic “Video Killed The Radio Star.”  About that track, Ward says, “The theme of technology driving media evolution was very interesting and salient: as the ways we consume media continue to evolve, we still appreciate a good song and a good story. We made our own video for the cover in which we riff on classic sci-fi, just as the Buggles did in 1980.”

“The Buggles’ ‘Video Killed The Radio Star’ couldn’t have been a more perfect fit for the Silver Snails’ intergenerational coed makeup.” -Magnet Magazine

“An Italian indie band with strong Portland roots that play a combination of space pop,  glam rock, among other genres.” -Portland Radio Project
