NPR‘s Bob Boilen spoke to 20-year-old Max Weisel who plays some of the unconventional instruments found in the Biophila live show. In the video, which you can watch here, Max explains the science behind the tesla coil used in the show and how it’s able to translate patterns to become an instrument and create melodies. He also shows how they’ve utilized Abelton to make the iPad serve as a drum machine. Björk is currently in the middle of the second leg of her sold-out New York Biophilia residency which ends March 2nd.
