Young Empires Get Remixed, Announce Tour

Young Empires, the Toronto-based indie dance pop trio currently teasing a debut LP due later this year, have gotten the remix treatment from another Canadian group, Humans. While the original version of “The Gates” – also the title track of the upcoming LP – was a bright, anthemic affair, the new remix “is eerie, downtempo, and driving, emitting minimal electronica via vocal intensity and energetic percussion.” That’s according to Earmilk, whose debut of the track is here.

Baebel Music recently featured “Sunshine,” from the LP, here. In an accompanying interview, the site asked the band what message they’d like to share with American audiences, and the band responded by sharing its love of BBQ and football. Young Empires will make it to the US in September, as part of a tour that also includes some Canadian festival dates:

09/04 – Festival of Good Things – Sarnia, ON
09/05 – Sonic Boom Fest – Edmonton, AB
09/06 – X-Fest – Calgary, AB
09/08 – The Casbah – San Diego, CA
09/11 – The Echo – Los Angeles, CA
09/12 – Neck of the Woods – San Francisco, CA
