The Pines Earn Plaudits From Blurt and Mother Church Pew

“It would be hard to imagine an album more haunting and beguiling” than The Pines’ fifth album, Above the Prairie, writes Blurt Online in a new review. Blurt praises the album’s dreaminess and “celestial feel,” giving the record four out of five stars. Special attention is paid to “Time Dreams,” the album’s final track that features lyrics and vocals from the late Native American poet and activist John Trudell. Read the whole thing here.

In another review, Mother Church Pew lauds Above the Prairie for its direct approach, writing, “The Pines employ simplicity in their lyrics and their instrumentation; there is no overproduction here, no extraneous bells and whistles, no distractions from the purity they have presented.” Read it here.
