Ablebody’s Adult Contemporaries Is Bandcamp’s Album Of The Day

Ablebody‘s Adult Contemporaries is a rare debut that feels fully formed – although it’s got a nostalgic feel to it, the album has enough unique qualities to set it apart from its inspirations. Perhaps that’s why it’s off to such a great start at radio, reaching a new peak at #75 in its second week on the CMJ Radio 200.

The LP has also gotten some attention from Bandcamp, which named Adult Contemporaries its Album of the Day on Monday. According to the site, the “project hews toward pristine, retro-leaning sounds and styles. More specifically, Adult Contemporaries’ gauzy keyboard layers, percolating rhythmic backbone and antique-sounding riffs take their cues from vaporous ’80s synthpop and the hushed indie rock of Sarah Records.” Comparing the band to Prefab Sprout, House of Love, and The Smiths, Bandcamp praises the record for being “gorgeous and enveloping.” Check out the review here.
