Wayne Coyne Talks To Prince Paul at The Talkhouse, Music OHM Compares Oczy Mlody to Literally Taking Drugs

On the eve of the release of the Flaming Lips’ new record Oczy Mlody, which shot to #3 at CMJ’s Radio 200 chart this week, Lips’ mastermind Wayne Coyne sat down with legendary hip-hop producer Prince Paul (De La Soul, Handsome Boys Modeling School), at the Sonos store in New York City and got deep on creativity and collaboration for The Talkhouse podcast. Their talk takes on the Lips’ creative process, De La Soul’s copyright issues, the joy of life, scaring neighborhood kids and how Wayne gets blamed for turning Miley Cyrus into a drug addict. After their conversation, Wayne and Prince Paul answer questions from members of Battles, Bauhaus, Love and Rockets, and Brookzill. Listen here for the “longform, unmoderated conversation!”

Of Oczy Mlody, Music OMH says, “this is an album that requires patience to get to grips with, but given time it reveals itself to be one of the band’s most thought provoking and enveloping works to date.” With a review that fully explores this “work of nuance and intelligence” that “feels like a powerful acid trip.” Read the review here.
