Stereogum Streams Rogue Wave’s Cover Me
Stereogum has a full album stream of Cover Me, a fun new collection of Eighties-era covers by Rogue Wave. The album was recorded as the indie rock darlings were prepping for the recording of the band’s 2016 LP Delusions of Grand Fur. After years of going to the studio to make albums, they decided to start doing their own production and made this collection of covers to train themselves before turning to their own original compositions. On Stereogum, bandleader Zach Rogue explains that after making their first cover, of “Talking In Your Sleep” by The Romantics, the band was “reduced to little kids again, wondering what song to cover next, and wouldn’t it be fun to constrain it just to songs from the 80’s, and man oh man how amazing do old Casio synths sound. We recorded about a double album’s worth of music.”
