Bandcamp Talks To Mount Eerie

Since the release of Mount Eerie‘s A Crow Looked At Me – the pensive, tragic reaction Phil Elverum crafted in response to the death of his wife, Geneviève Castrée – many longtime fans have wondered what will happen with Mount Eerie in the future. In a recent interview with Bandcamp, Elverum offers a prediction about the direction he’ll take, saying “I do think I’ll make more music… I don’t want to do the same thing again, although I feel like I discovered a new way of doing things for me, like a new way of writing, a new tone, a new way of producing… I feel like the records I used to make were more about atmosphere and the world that it creates, and production, and spending a lot of time in the studio. I’m not so inspired to do that now. I want to engage the brain.” That revelation comes at the end of the interview, which also covers the creation of the album, the imagery of its lyrics, and the meaning behind the photo that graces its cover.
