CHOU Interviews Holy Oak
Neil Holyoak, who records and performs under the name Holy Oak, recently did a call-in interview with the No Filter show on AM station CHOU in Quebec. The interview is full of insights about the musician’s life and the making of his new album Second Son. According to Holyoak, the “slow, dark” timbre of the album is an about-face from his previous work, which was in more of a pop direction. He mentions Songs: Ohia, Nick Cave, and Will Oldham as influences, and also discusses the trauma of having a bandmate die during the making of his record. Check out the interview, which begins at the half-hour mark on No Filter’s Mixcloud stream, here.
Second Son has spent the last two weeks on the NACC chart. Keep it up there! And Canadian stations, take note: this album is certified Canadian Content!
