“I spent most of my life being a businessman and not enough as an artist,” says Brian Hall in a recent interview with Portland Monthly. Hall, who makes up one-third of Portland’s TENTS. In the interview, Hall explains how TENTS “harnesses his background in commercial music to explore themes like body positivity and childrearing.” According to the piece, TENTS began when Hall decided to shift gears after making his name producing functional work for the likes of Nike and North Face.
