The Innocence Project has announced that Phony Ppl, who are currently promoting their 2018 LP mō’zā-ik. with tour dates, have joined up as Innocence Ambassadors. According to its website, The Innocence Project “exonerates the wrongly convicted through DNA testing and reforms the criminal justice system to prevent future injustice.” In the announcement, the group explains why criminal justice reform is important. “Growing up in Brooklyn,” the group writes, “we saw first-hand how the criminal justice system treats youth of color. Seeing our friends cycle in and out of the system and how it affected their families has made us committed to making change.”
