The Bird And The Bee’s Greg Kurstin Tells His Story To Tape Op

Greg Kurstin announces that “music is [his] happy place” in a new feature in Tape Op. The article lists the stunning array of top-notch artists with which the producer has worked, including “Lily Allen, Sia, Pink, The Shins, Foo Fighters, Liam Gallagher, Beck, The Flaming Lips, Tegan and Sara, Peaches, Kelly Clarkson, Lykke Li, Ellie Goulding, Adele, and Paul McCartney.” It also spends time on Kurstin’s project with Inara George, The Bird And The Bee, which last year released the LP Interpreting The Masters, Vol. 2: A Tribute to Van Halen. According to Kurstin, “When Van Halen came out, that was the biggest band in the world to me. It was the first music I got into when I started playing in bands. Van Halen, Ozzy, and Rush. That lasted for a short time, and then I got into punk and The Clash. I stopped listening to the hard rock bands and got more into punk and new wave music. But 11-year-old me was all about Van Halen. That was as big as you could get.”
