New Music From Deantoni Parks (aka TECHNOSELF)

Deantoni Parks – who often goes by the moniker TECHNOSELF – is an American new wave/avant-garde/experimental drummer, songwriter, film director, actor and record producer. He’s the founder, producer and drummer of the New York band KUDU, and as one-half of the writing duo We Are Dark Angels with producer and keyboardist Nicci Kasper, scored Paul Schrader‘s film Dog Eat Dog. Additionally, Parks frequently collaborates with John Cale, Sade, the Mars Volta, and Flying Lotus.

New LP SILVER CORD finds Parks, alongside producer/engineer Chris Hunt, slicing shards of cyberpunk, astral jazz, and vaporwave into a fragmented and chaotic collage of rhythmic-based vignettes. The textured sonic moments unfold as urgent bursts which blend with extended percussive patterns into an expansive and cinematic landscape. Featuring explosive and brittle sounds harking back the traditions of jazz recording and wavy samples found throughout contemporary beat music, Parks and Hunt question aesthetic and timbre through a transcendent collision of textures.
