Hot Press lives up to its name with a scorching Phil Elverum interview detailing The Microphones in 2020. During the back-and-forth, Elverum explains, "I don’t think about the name at all ever. I wish my project didn’t have to have a name. At the same time I just don’t want to use ‘Phil Elverum’….The amount of significance that gets attached to different names is a little bit frustrating to me.” Nonetheless, The Microphones In 2020 is the first time he's released music under that name since the early 2000s.
