Elmore Gives The Contraptionists A Glowing Review

Elmore Magazine’s Peter Lindblad praises The Contraptionists’ “gnarly, rough-and-tumble folk-rock machinery” in a recent review of the duo’s new Working Man’s Dread, which he awards a rating of 90 (out of 100). “Without much of a break, both busily beat out percussion via their feet, as singer-songwriter Paul Givant plays banjo and guitar, with Stephen Andrews toiling away on bass… If idle hands are, indeed, the devil’s workshop, then The Contraptionists must be in line for sainthood.” Lindblad continues, “Forgetting the intelligently crafted narratives, the strong hooks caught up in an inventive mix of rural and industrial aesthetics and the currents of tight, spirited musicianship of Working Man’s Dread won’t be… easy.” Read the review here. Working Man’s Dread is going for spins this week.
