American Pancake Champions Particle Kid’s “Self Assured Sound That Fuels Dreams and Past Memories”

American Pancake has a glowing review of “Someone Else’s Dream,” the new single from Particle Kid‘s upcoming LP Time Capsule. The site’s American Robb writes, “I instantly thought of an amalgam of The Smashing Pumpkins, Neil Young, The Flaming Lips and Sparklehorse. The project of divergent singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Micah Nelson, and here featuring J Mascis, Paul Bushnell and Sunny War, floats a self assured sound that fuels dreams and past memories, some whole and some partial, some brilliant and happy and some incredibly sad. There is a surreal sense in the ambiance, scratchy thoughts in the bending guitars, a sense of home in the harmonica melodies that seems to shape shifts into beautifully distorted guitar leads. Micah has such an embracing vocal aesthetic, warm, friendly like a loving big brother that is bolstered by Sunny War’s sadly pretty harmonies. An accomplished drummer (among a lot of things) Micah pounces and explodes in a big way as well as contributing guitar. J Mascis adds guitar and I would bet money that lead is him as well. Paul Bushnell on bass and vox and the aforementioned Sunny War on those backing harmonies.”
