Vinyl editions of The Ophelias‘ Bare Bodkin are now available from Independent Project Records. Check out video, here, of the gorgeous packaging and the trippy blue slabs of sweet wax. Last year we serviced CDs and digital versions of the record, which chronicles the seminal San Francisco outfit that burst onto the scene in the mid-Eighties before signing to Rough Trade US and falling apart as part of the collateral damage from that label’s demise. “It’s hard for me to imagine a more audacious guy than Ophelias singer/conceptualist Leslie Medford,” wrote Ann Powers in the SF Chronicle. “Collectors and critics will probably rediscover The Ophelias in fifteen years and write blathering essays about Medford’s psychosis-tinged genius.”
Two more IPR releases are coming to vinyl next month: Scenic‘s Incident At Cima and Shiva Burlesque‘s Mercury Blues + Skulduggery. Pre-order here.
