Beams Streams Again
Fans of Beams’ album Requiem For A Planet might have noticed that the album – released earlier this year to solid reviews – was not available on streaming services for a while. That situation has fortunately been remedied, and Exclaim has a story behind what happened. According to Exclaim, “In July, an AI playlister named Chartmob added one of Beams songs for a reported 12 hours — according to drummer Mike Mērnieks-Duffield, in the hopes that “we’d see a small uptick in streams and potentially use their services as their marketing strategy. The result was that Spotify flagged Beams for supposedly buying fake streams, and distributor AWAL removed the album from streaming services.” Read more, and get the band’s response, here.
Released in May, Requiem For A Planet “evokes the deep-ache feeling,” writes Exclaim, “of memories being passed through generations, a set of oral teachings that works to catalogue all the beauty that once grew from our long-destroyed home.” Give the album some love now that it’s back online!
