AllMusic Says Denise LaSalle’s Debut Westbound LP Is A “Classic”

AllMusic has a review of Denise LaSalle‘s Trapped By A Thing Called Love. “Kicking off her Westbound stay with a gem,” the site wites, “LaSalle gave the world a new take on Southern soul with this late-nite entrée of Stax-y grooves and tales of love on the rocks. Trapped By a Thing Called Love… set the pace for other Dixie divas like Millie Jackson and Betty Wright, thanks to the finely gauged originals and heavy dose of swagger they contained.” Read more here.
The non-outdated review concludes, “Trapped By a Thing Called Love is lost in the vaults once again and awaiting a re-release makeover befitting its classic status.” Fortunately, that re-release has now happened in the form of a stunningly remastered edition from Westbound Records and ORG Music. It’s at radio now, along with previous Westbound reissues from Dennis Coffey, Eramus Hall, and Ohio Players. Get them spinning now.
