Shepard Fairey Chats With John Densmore and Chuck D

The Doors’ John Densmore and Public Enemy’s Chuck D recently spoke to influential artist Shepard Fairey about their new album do+PE = no country for old men. Fairey asks, “What happens when different genres collide with a purpose? Their conversation explores activism, artistic responsibility, hip hop and rock history, creative evolution, spoken word, poetry, social change, and the power of music to challenge systems. Together, they reveal how generations of artists can unite to create meaningful work in a time of distraction and division… [the project] demonstrates that meaningful collaboration isn’t limited by age, genre, or background. Chuck D and John Densmore found common ground through activism, storytelling, and a shared desire to create art that matters.” Read more here.

The album is going hard at radio, hitting the Top Ten on NACC’s most recent Hip Hop chart. Thanks to all the stations that have been supporting it on your Hip Hop or Top 30 charts: CFMU, KDUR, KGLT, KRFF, KVMR, KXRY, WCBN, WCLH, WCRS, WHFR, WMXM, WSUW, and WXNA.
