Axl’s Catch Groove Catches Funkadelic’s Groove
Axl’s Catch Groove has a feature on Maggot Brain, which has been remastered and reissued in several audiophile-oriented editions by ORG Music and original label Westbound Records. “First and foremost,” the site writes, “Maggot Brain is an Eddie Hazel showcase. Hazel was a Jimi Hendrix-level guitar hero. If you have ever witnessed a Prince face-melting guitar solo, he is channeling the spirit of Eddie Hazel. Clinton’s genius was and is recruiting talent and putting that talent in the best situation to shine. And boy does Hazel shine on this album.”
The site has a full breakdown of the album’s tracks, here. Check it out, and spin the fresh new version of Maggot Brain now.
